About VII MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL of Slavic Music
(18-24 May 2011)


The festival is organized and conducted by:


- The Department of Culture of Moscow;
- Prefecture of South-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow;
- State budget educational institution of additional education for children of Moscow Children's School of Arts named after MA Balakirev;
- Slavic Fund of Russia.


With the support of:


- Municipality of intra-municipality Vykhino-Zhulebino in Moscow;
- Municipal agencies "Origins" of municipality Vykhino-Zhulebino in Moscow;
- Moscow Peace Fund;
- Russian Academy of Arts;
- Moscow House of Nationalities;
- Moscow Musical Society;
- Trustees Fund of Children's Art School 9 named after MA Balakirev;
- National Association of institutions and schools of art.


1. Aims and objectives of the Festival are as follows:


- Promotion and popularization of Slavic music among the general population;
- To draw public attention to the culture of the Slavic countries;
- Establishing and developing creative relations with the countries of the Slavic culture;
- Integration of activities of educational institutions, individuals and public organizations in the study and promotion of Slavic culture;
- Creation of favorable conditions for realization of creative interchange between the Festival participants.


2. Conditions of the Festival are as follows:


The festival is associated with the celebration of Days of Slavic Written Language and Culture in Moscow and involves a creative exchange between the Slavic countries. Festival 2011 is dedicated to the 175 th anniversary of Mily Alekseevich Balakirev and is dedicated to the Russian musical culture. The motto of the Festival is "With Love to Russia."
The festival is an amalgamation of several projects: the Competition of Young Musicians, Young Performers Competition in the field of choreography, competition of young pop song ("May-bug"), Watching of folk groups, the cycle of concerts and exhibitions, workshops, meetings with outstanding artists, honored guests of the Festival. For the participants of the festival a cultural program is organized.
All creative projects are implemented during the Festival from May 18, 2011 to May 24, 2011 in a pre-scheduled time and under the regulations for them.

Rules and conditions of the International Contest of Young Musicians for participants in following nominations: piano, violin, violoncello, wind and percussion instruments, folk  instruments, instrumental and chamber ensemble, orchestra, solo-singing, vocal ensemble, chorus singing, electronic music. Special nomination: M.A.Balakirev and composers of "Mighty cluster.

The contest is held from May,18 to May,24, 2011 in Moscow.

Common information.

1. The Contest is held within the bounds of The VIIth  International festival of Slavic music in Moscow at the hall of Children's School of Arts named after M.A. Balakirev. There is one round of competitive listening open to the public.

2. Musicians of different age groups up to 25 can take part in the Contest. In the nominations of instrumental and chamber ensemble, orchestra, chorus singing age of the group is calculated of the average age of participants.

The age is registered on the 18 May, 2011.                 

Contest jury.

The contest will be assessed by an international jury.

The structure of jury of competition of festival is defined by  Organizing committee.    

The demands towards participants in the contest.

1. Participants of the Contest will need the following documents up to the 15th of April,  2011:

           a) application (according standard form);

           b) copy of  birth-certificate or passport;

           c) photo (size is 8x12sm.)

2. Special-registration fee for participation in the Contest is:

for soloist - 40 euro per each participant;

for ensembles (up to 12 persons) 50 euro per each application;

for large collectives (more than 12  participants) 60 euro per each application. Participants from foreign countries have to pay 15 euro per each person for invitation to Russia.

Special-registration fee will not be returned.

3. The payment should be paid in rubles (cash) at the Childrens Art School named after M.A. Balakirev according to ruble rate on the day of registration of contest participants in Moscow.

4. Accommodations, food expenses and transfer (ticket to Moscow and back) are paid by participants of Contest or sponsoring organization.         

 Procedures of competition.

1. It's forbidden to change anything in a program, which was demanded for contest.

2. Every participant will have a rehearsal in the audition hall.

3. The accompanist is in case of need given.

4. The final decision of all organizational problems arising during competition is taken by the chairman of the Organizational Committee of Festival.

5. Decision of the contest jury is final and it cannot be reconsidered.

6. The Jury assumes the right to stop artistic performance at any moment.

7.  Winners of the Contest are awarded with diplomas and souvenirs.

In every nomination one grand  prize might be awarded according of decision of the contest jury.

In every nominations and every age categories competitors who take 1st, 2nd, 3rd place will be awarded to the title of Laureate of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree and competitors who take 4th and 5th  place will be awarded to the title of Winner of an award.

Special Diplomas will be awarded for the best performing of the piece of Slavic composer, the best performing of the piece of Russian composer, the best performing of the piece of participants native composer, the best performing of the piece of modern composer.

8. Winners of the Contest will take part at the final concert of The Slavic Musical International Festival.

1st age category (up to 10):

            Maximal time is up to 12 minutes.

2nd age category (11-13):

               Maximal time is up to 18 minutes.

3rd age category (14-17):

               Maximal time is up to 25 minutes.

4th age category (18-25)

     Maximal time is up to 25 minutes.

3.     Piece of European (West-) or participants native composer (aria or ballad).

1st age category (9-11):

            Maximal time is up to 8 minutes.

2nd age category (12-14):

               Maximal time is up to 12 minutes.

3rd age category (15-18):

               Maximal time is up to 15 minutes.

3rd age category (19-25):

               Maximal time is up to 15 minutes.

(Amateurs and musical educated participants are umpired by jury differently)

4th age category (20-25)

     Maximal time is up to 15 minutes.

 (Amateurs and musical educated participants are umpired by jury differently)

Program of International Contest of Young Musicians in special nomination: M.A.Balakirev and composers of "Mighty cluster.

1. Piece of composer M.A. Balakirev (it is possible to perform pieces in arrangements).     

2.  Piece of one of the composers of "Mighty cluster.

1st age category (9-11):

            Maximal time is up to 8 minutes.

2nd age category (12-14):

               Maximal time is up to 12  minutes.

3rd age category (15-18):

               Maximal time is up to 18 minutes.

4th age category (19-25)

     Maximal time is up to 18 minutes.

 

The Contest of Young Dancers.

Nominations:

Solo dance (folk dance, classical dance, modern dance);

Dance ensemble in membership:

- up to 6  participants (folk dance, classical dance, modern dance);

- more than 6 participants (folk dance, classical dance, modern dance).

Age categories.

In nomination Dance ensemble (more than 6 participants):

- Youngest age category (7-10);

- Middle age category (11-14);

- Elder age category (15-18).

In nominations Solo dance and Dance ensemble

(up to 6 participants) there is no division for age categories.

Program of Contest of Young Dancers.

1. Slavic dance (Belorussia, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Ukraine).

2.Dance on participants choice.

Maximum  time for performing is up to 10 minutes.

 

Procedures of competition.

There is one round of competitive review open to the public. It is held at May, 20th 2011 in the Concert hall of Children's School of Arts  named after Balakirev.

It's forbidden to change anything in a program, which was demanded for contest.

Every participant will have a rehearsal in the Concert hall.

Performance has to be accompanied by high quality sound track (CD or MD).

The contest will be assessed by an international jury.

The structure of a jury of competition is defined by  Organizing committee.

 Decision of the contest jury is final and it cannot be reconsidered.

One grand prize might be awarded according of decision of the contest jury;
